The 190 Bhp version is the highest Bhp version that Nissan have produced in the 2.5 litre but the power delivery leaves a lot to be desired pressing the loud pedal and a carrier pigeon takes a note to the engine and gearbox and some time later the 4wd lurches into action – its quite disconcerting – fitting the tuning module with the help of a small step ladder to get to the crankcase angle sensor and removing the front grill to get to the boost sensor and the more easily accessible common rail sensor has massively helped the situation – pick up is much much quicker and even gives more at the top end as well

There are many reasons to tune a car in this case the owner had commented that there were more flat spots than one of my stand up routines – It had been back to Audi for the injector recall that all 170Bhp Siemens ecud vehicles should have had and even had a new ecu as the old one would not take the software update from Audi but they could not solve the problem

While we cannot remap out problems we did feel that a remap and Simota air filter would at least improve things – simple OBD remap and a 2 minute filter change and the car was ready to test 

Initial reports the car is vastly improved but will monitor it over the coming weeks

Peter had his old car and his sons car remapped by us and when he bought his new Mercedes he was straight round for its little pep up.
Fortunately the ecu is not buried in the wheel arch like the E class and MLs so removal was easy and the ecu casing was a lot thicker than is usual on the edc17 so opening the ecu was easier as well.
under 2 hours and the Big Merc was back together and packing nearly 300BHp from its 3 litre diesel engine – lovely

Our world famous Motorsport remap on the Citroen DS3 is amazing 
200BHp from the French pocket rocket – it certainly has the Va-Va-Voom associated with the other Froggie manufacturer now 
We didn’t have the air filter in at the time of remapping so we have left this to the customer to fit in his own time – its a simple couple of screws at the back of the engine and filter swap so no problem for him

Patrick brought us two cars last week – the c200 cdi and this BMW cabriolet – this car already had a map on it but felt well underpowered to drive – I wanted to find out why before overwriting the map and also study what had previously been changed so we booked him back in when we had time on the dyno 
with the mod file as it was presented to us – 172.0 bhp and a shade under 280lb/ft of torque – slightly under stock figures 
While no exact original file was available to us we have tuned so many of these we had a s/w that aligned close enough to the software on the car and tuned that to a strong stage 1 remap – and added a Simota panel air filter 
Now its a stormer with performance that goes with the M3 looks

Bit of an odd one this , 2011 Sprinter 315 but still a bosch edc16 ecu which is unusual as normally they have Delphis 2010 onwards – and to make this a real one off vehicle it was also 4wd ( bet you havent seen one of those before) – still as the weather was somewhat precipitous the extra room under the wheelarch gave me an ideal dry spot to put the extension lead – 1 hour and the van is remapped giving more power and lots of extra torque – just what was needed

88 yes 88 Bhp in a Crafter – hmm thats just not going to cut the mustard – but when you are in the market for a second hand van then mileage condition and features will also sway your opinion – so was this 88 Bhp version one that should be avoided – not at all 
mostly the Crafters are 109 Bhp with a few 136 versions – now if you factor in a few hundred quid for a remap when you look to buy then a whole extra number of vans become available – and with this knowledge you should be able to pick up the lower powered one cheaper and once tuned will be better than a 109 and closer to the 136 version

when 420Bhp and 2142Nm of torque isn’t enough you can always tune your Volvo Truck – In this case adding 68Bhp and 350Nm 
and you thought a touareg 5.0 tdi had a lot of torque this now has about 2500Nm wow

Later VW Crafters have a 2.0 litre engine and edc17 ecu – you can find out which ecu as it is visible behind the nearside headlight – it will say edc16 ( obd tunable) or edc17 cp54 ( bench tune)
I have heard some tuners say that they can never get a read from the edc17cp54 but I have never had a problem 
Nice gains and this carpet fitter now has no excuses for being late for work

Small two seater convertibles get a tagging as a hairdressers car probably because many of them have small engines and don’t have enough power – this one is different – the S badge on the back means it has the bigger 3.2 litre engine and 252 bhp to start with 
now with improved throttle response smoother power delivery and more power it is even better – It also belongs to UFC fighter Jason Black – so if you fancy you can shout out to him he must be a hairdresser any time you want – bear in mind though he fights for a living and has a tuned Porsche to catch you in

When Jason got his Boxster S his mate wanted one and bought this slightly later 987 version – Not to be outdone also needed it mapped as well – Kess only takes an i/d from the later ME7.8.1 ecu and we had no matching software for it but fortunately using CMD and its clever way of reading files it managed to read a file from the CMD server tagging it to the cars i/d and spitting out a file we could modify and write back quickly and simply – beats pulling the boot liner out to get a the ecu to tune on the bench – again faster smoother and better throttle response 
better than the average coiffeur’s car

A 2005 Golf GT TDi is still a great car – the interiors wear well and with regular servicing the engines do seem to be able to rack up massive mileages. This one had done a few miles but went well and even better after a tune

If you have a late 2006-2008 VW 2.0 Tdi 170 Bhp you will know they all had a recall for injector replacement – this one had only recently gone back to VW so with fresh injectors the owner wanted to give it a pep up – this level of tune is very sensible – feels great and gets improved economy too

I always feel like I have done the job twice on these Siemens PCR 2.1 ecus – firstly we have to remove the ecu from the vehicle and unlock it on the bench – then put the ecu back in the car and remap it in the conventional OBD manor – for some reason you cannot tune the file and write it on the bench though – just read the eprom and unlock it – much like a mobile phone is locked to one provider but it can be unlocked to different networks – still just over 2 hours and the Touran is much better 105Bhp was never enough and the lack of torque was horrid – its now faster smoother better gear changes and improved throttle response

We have remapped many many Transporters – They are such a popular van but I do think the lower two BHp versions are underpowered 84 or 102 Bhp is not enough – despite being a bench tune the process is pretty easy taking under 2 hours and teh gains are so worthwhile it would be crazy not to tune your Transporter

It looks like it makes sense small diesel engine in a smallish van – must be great fuel economy and yes it is pretty good but 89Bhp is pretty low and if you carry much weight you end up working the engine very hard – a remap helps give the engine more pep and actually gives better fuel economy
