Modern Diesel powered vehicles are fitted with a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) the job of which is to collect sooty particles in the exhaust and then when the conditions are correct burn these off at very high temperature (regeneration). The aim of the DPF is to reduce the soot emissions to the environment.

Problems with DPFs are caused when driving conditions do not allow the collected soot to be burnt and they clog up causing the vehicle to go into “limp” mode with restricted drivability. Main dealers have two options to solve this problem – a forced regeneration, either static ( e.g Fords) or next available (e.g VAG group vehicles) this will temporarily clean of the DPF until it becomes clogged again – this forced regeneration can only be completed a certain number of times ( usually 3 ) before replacement is necessary – Replacement is the other option usually costing from £1000 to £3000 - and no guarantee it will not clog up again unless you change your driving conditions.

So what can we do to eliminate the DPF problems – well remove it completely from your vehicle – This is a two stage process, firstly we will delete the trouble codes from the engine management system and then copy the ecu data on your car much like remapping, we then delete the DPF threads within the ecu data, recode the software and write this back to the cars ECU with a remap to your desired state of tune. Next we have to remove the DPF physically from the vehicle – this is a box on the exhaust pipe which we remove and then hollow out and replace on the vehicle.
